Now, we don’t mean to compare Latercase with the Thinborne super-thin Galaxy Z Fold 7 case. In this review, we simply want to test and see if this case is worth every penny.

One thing is for sure - the Latercase Thin Galaxy Z Fold 7 case has several standout strengths, particularly if you prioritize thinness and a clean design over bulk. These are what we liked about it.

It is pretty thin. At just 0.6mm thin and around 10 grams, the case barely changes how the Fold 7 feels in your hand. Foldables often become bulky with a case, but this one retains the phone's original form and is easy to carry.

It is thinner and lighter than our Thinborne, and we’ve explained that in this in-depth comparison. The lack of integrated magnets on the Latercase further reduces its weight.

The case consists of two separate pieces that snap onto the front and back of the phone, covering the frame and leaving the hinge exposed. This design minimizes thickness and maintains a slim feel.

The aramid fiber gives it a smooth matte texture that is not overly grippy, but also not slippery. The texture is not overly aggressive, but it's enough to feel secure in hand, which is crucial for a large and expensive folding phone.

A slight curve along the edge makes the Fold 7 easier to open and more natural to use. Many users shared their Latercase experience online, noting that this curve was the “best surprise” of the design, making the Fold noticeably easier to open.

Due to the minimalist, two-piece design, the Latercase leaves the Z Fold 7’s hinge completely uncovered.  Many users point out the lack of hinge protection and built-in magnets, but these are clearly stated in the product description.

The matte aramid fiber finish is pleasant to the touch, but it tends to pick up fingerprints, natural oils, and even face grease with regular use. Over time, this can leave visible smudges or a slight darkening of the surface, making the case look more worn than it actually is.

Latercase doesn’t include magnets in the case, so MagSafe accessories won’t work as they do with ThinBorne’s Fold 7 case. They often require a separate MagLock Ring to be installed to use MagSafe accessories. You can buy a $15 stick-on ring, but it feels like a workaround. 

The front piece won’t stay put unless you use the included adhesive strips. That can be annoying if you switch cases or use a screen protector, as some users report that it lifts at the corners. It’s secure once applied, but not as seamless as it should be.

If you want something just as slim but with more functionality, the ThinBorne case is the better pick.

Like Latercase, it won’t save your phone from significant drops, but it provides the same scratch and camera protection with extra convenience.

That said, the trade-offs are hard to ignore. The case leaves the hinge exposed, provides only minimal drop protection, and skips built-in MagSafe magnets.

For users who like the idea of a slim case but also want MagSafe support out of the box, the ThinBorne ultra-thin phone case is worth considering. It keeps a similar lightweight profile while adding integrated magnets and a grippier finish.
